(A short essay on the scarcity mindset.)
In this email, we’ll show you a philosophy many magicians are accidentally falling prey to—and how to fix it…
What is this philosophy?
We refer to it as…
‘Scarcity mindset’.
Here’s a handy definition we found online:
“Scarcity mentality refers to people seeing life as a finite pie, so that if one person takes a big piece, that leaves less for everyone else.”
This might seem like it makes logical sense on the surface, but it’s deeply flawed.
If you approach life with a scarcity mindset, you’re playing ‘not to lose’ rather than playing to win.
It’s a limiting mindset. It limits your creativity, limits what you’ll try to achieve, and limits the way you view the world.
For example, many magicians are extremely tight-lipped about sharing their secrets with other magicians.
In our view, this is a ‘scarcity mindset’ approach.
If you have the limiting mindset and assume you’ll only discover a select few secrets and effects that are original to you over your career, of course, you’ll be reluctant to share them.
But if you don’t limit yourself, and you really believe there are an almost unlimited number of secrets and effects you’ll discover over your career…what does it matter if you share the ones you now know? You’ll soon discover more!
Why on earth would you want to live life with unnecessary self-imposed limits on yourself?
There’s a much better mindset—that we wish more magicians adopted.
What is it?
We call this the ‘abundance mindset’.
Here’s a simple metaphor to help you understand it:
Imagine you’re standing at the edge of the sea with a bucket, however long you spent scooping water out of the ocean, it’s NEVER going to go dry – even if you spent your whole life trying.
Oftentimes in life, we think we’re in a group of 100 starving people fighting over a single piece of cake, whereas oftentimes, with a simple mindset shift- we realize the opposite is true.
Hopefully, you see us do our best to apply this mindset, already we’ve shared 30+ of our best effects, and going forwards there are literally 100’s more to come.
So here’s our challenge to you start easy: pick someone you trust, share an effect with them, and see what they can do with it!
We guarantee you they’ll give you a bunch of great ideas, and if they don’t – you didn’t loose anything anyways 😉
Good luck friends.
