Now, whatever your religious leanings— when a teaching sticks around for a couple thousand years, it can probably teach you something.
Which is why I pulled this ‘thinking differently thought’ straight from the Bible.
Plus, it is Christmas Day, so it seemed only right.
Here’s a verse I like:
Matthew 6:21
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
It’s very simple, but it can teach us a lot.
First—what is your treasure? What do you truly want?
Now you can ask yourself this question in a general way or a more granular way.
What do you truly want out of magic?
What do you truly want from life?
Why?
Is that really what you want?
Now…
Once you know what you want, once your ‘treasure’ is very clear to you try to develop that image.
Imagine yourself for a second having accomplished your desired goal.
How do you feel?
Are you happier?
Was it worth the journey?
If your answer to all this is yes, then you might just have found your treasure.
Now the next part is the fun and easy bit.
All you have to do is focus on your treasure everyday— and you will naturally gravitate towards it.
Now this DOESN’T mean you don’t have to work for it, but it will allow you to focus on it more deeply and develop greater reservoirs of motivation and strong habits.
Everything takes work of course.
But it’s very, very important to have something, heck ANYTHING to work towards.
Merry Christmas my friends (or just joyful wishes to any of you who don’t celebrate the season)
Much love,
Jacob…
… and Benji (he helped me edit this together)
P.S. My Dad made a Christmas film for YouTube if you could go and drop a comment saying ‘The Daily Magician sent me’ it would be the biggest gift I could ever give him for Christmas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na6Pp_nEu54
