When we first started The Daily Magician, we were hardcore ‘card-magic-only’ guys.

Coin magic, in our opinion…sucked.

(we even recorded a podcast where we said as much!)

However, over the last year or so…

…we’ve completely changed our mind!

Right now, we spend as much time (if not more) practicing coin magic.

We thought this email might be a nice chance to explain a little more behind our thinking.

(Hopefully you find it thought-provoking.)

Here’s the story:

In November 2020, we interviewed the first ‘official’ guest on our podcast—Danny Goldsmith.

Danny, for those of you who don’t know him, is potentially the most skillful coin magician in the world right now.

Over the next few months, we became close friends with Danny and worked on several projects together.

Then, in February 2021, Danny dropped a product called ‘Modus’.

We thought it would be fun to watch the trailer together.

As we did, we suddenly felt strongly that both of us should start learning this stuff.

As we dug into coin magic more, we started to love it even more.

In fact, here are some of the things that really stood out to us about coin magic…

1. The power of the fundamentals

It’s always been true that working on the fundamentals is how you achieve real mastery in magic, but that feels especially the case in coin magic.

For example, if you understand ‘tension and relaxation’, you can perform stunning coin work using simple moves.

2. The fun & efficiency of practice

It’s incredibly easy to walk around all day with a coin in classic palm. Since coins are fairly small, it’s so easy to carry them around and practice invisibly.

3. The beauty of it

If you’ve seen any of Danny Goldsmith’s work, you’ll know exactly what we mean.

Coin magic, when done right, is incredibly beautiful.

Now, at this point, you may be wondering…

If you’re on the verge of diving into coin magic, what should your first step be?

In our opinion, any of Danny Goldsmith’s products are a strong place to start.
