When I interviewed Danny Goldsmith for the ‘Of Sleights and Men’ podcast, he said something really interesting that I wanted to ‘zoom in on’ for my Inner Circle members.
I think you’ll find this interesting too…
I also discuss:
- The one thing magicians take for granted (that is actually, when you think about it, the whole POINT of magic!)
- Why magic is one of the final frontiers of knowledge (minute 1:51)
- How to reframe the way you look at magic to make learning it just as fun (if not MORE fun) than performing it
- 2 pieces of magic that blew me away by how clever the method was (one of these you may not be able to get your hands on, but feel free to track down the other)
It’s more of a blessing than it is a curse, to discover then learn and use a uniquely powerful effect. The Awe from the innocence of not knowing what just happened and from that; to become elated in wonder is prime! forgetting about all the mundane for even just a moment is blissful. Yet to hold the knowledge and ability to present an effect that causes this experience for others is more than worth the trade off. Also the puzzle of being able reverse engineer an effect to unravel the method is rewarding and challenging aspect it also provides excellent brain exercises for creativity for unique fresh ideas as well!
Awesome points and wicked post dude!
Appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed! It truly is an amazing thing to lose yourself in the innocence of not knowing–scary for many, but a wonderful thing nonetheless.
